Daniel got in touch back in the summer to get a portrait shoot with two sisters as a surprise gift to their parents at Christmas. Fall in New England is a wonderful time for outdoor portraits and the backdrop of the Minute Man National Historic Park, with the beautiful old trees and river running towards Concord is a perfect setting. Merry Christmas to the Cullens!

The Morris family live just a couple of houses away here in Winchester and I was delighted when they asked me to take photos of little Pierce who is just a few months old. A very proud mum and dad are enjoying the experience of bringing up the little guy and their beautiful brittany spaniel, who is certainly (as all dogs are) an important part of their lives was on hand. It looks like Pierce and our own Oliver will be playing together before too long!

It is such a great idea to not only get a family portrait, but also get a record of the goings on in your house during that special first year of your child's life. Although life can be a little hectic, there's no extra time required to have a documentary photo session; I just turn up when a nap is finished, document with candid photography for an hour, then take a family portrait at the end of the session.

The O'Sheas are just in town for a year while they study. Nicola just turned one and mum and dad couldn't resist the pumpkin hat and mitts! It was great chatting with them both about life in Canada while an inquisitive Nicola played. Enjoy your time here!

We met Wendy and David while out walking our dogs around our neighbourhood. They live the other side of our back yard and after many, many times of walking Luna's favourite route we've come to know them as good friends. We were so excited to hear that they were expecting a child and along came little Chase, who I photographed in the spring in his first week. A few months along and in mid September I returned to photograph this handsome little guy. I'm sure he and Oliver will be riding the streets of Winchester in just a few years. Lots of fun to come...

It pays to be flexible...

When I first met Max (very soon to be 1) and his parents his usual nap didn't pay off and despite a few keepers we decided it would be best for me to come back the week after. His true colours came out and we got the little man's cheeky personality captured to mark his first year. While I was there it was great to take a few stories and tips on board for our own future child!

Meet the Nelsons...

Last Wednesday night we had a little surprise come visit us a week and a day early. Meet Oliver Fox Brown, now just a week and a half, but growing fast and becoming completely attached to his mother.

It was an incredible experience becoming a dad for the first time. Seeing that little human being look up at you for the first time is overwhelming. I was there of course and managed to take some photos and video of his first few moments, which family and close friends have been lucky enough to see. I'm so very proud of my wife Nicole who had quite and ordeal to go through and trying my best to look after her and the house while she tends to Oliver.

Of course I'm going nuts with the photos and so glad I invested in an incredible little camera that has taken the majority of his first photos with. There'll be more to come on Oliver, but for now there's a few photos of the little guy here for you to see:

With the holidays fast approaching I know I'll be scratching my head as to what to give. If you're after a gift that will live well beyond the holiday season, then a gift card for a family or couple would be the perfect, personal offering that screams unique.

You can purchase a gift card for a one or two hour portrait session, or a couple / engagement session. The session will be at a location of the recipient's choosing within 50 miles of Boston. The gift card itself comes on a beautiful premium card stock.

Head over to http://www.brownphotographic.com/gifts/gifts.html to purchase your gift card online, or please contact me if you've got any questions!

A great gift if you are away from family, or you are travelling home to be with them and want the gift to be delivered in your name to the door. Just let me know what your circumstances or special message needs to be and I will provide!

A couple of weeks back I had the pleasure of meeting with the Roy family at Lynch Park in Beverly - a beautiful location on the North Shore. I had donated a portrait session for a fund raising evening for the Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Network back in June and the generous Roys won the raffle! Take a look at the photos below, we got some great shots including an up-close of an eagle!

You can view all of the photos here, the password is Mrs Roy's first name.

How cute is Emily?

I think she loves my 135 f2 L. Me too Emily! That's a great lens and I'm glad you've got good taste :)

She's a very clever, strong little girl who loves to share and play peek-a-boo in Japanese. Of course I played along with the help of mum and dad teaching me the phrases...

Lucy Kossuth, now 2!

I shot Lucy with her parents last year on a very cold day; this year I ran into the family while walking the dog in Winchester Fells back in the summer and Ann asked me to come back for some an update to little Lucy's portfolio. So we met on a late autumn day and got some great photos of Lucy playing in her local playground in Medford, then retired to their home and got some shots of the family relaxing in front of West Side Story (Lucy's favourite by all accounts!)

Hope to see you next year!

Lucy, aged one is ready to take on the world! Yesterday I met with Lucy and her parents to create some photos to mark her first anniversary and create an image for a holiday card. We came away with some fun images of the new family and I had a great time getting to know the little one. She literally seemed to be loving the camera, grabbing onto the lens for a close-up and while she wasn't too keen on sitting for a family portrait, she certainly loved mimicking her parents.
