About British Rob
I grew up in a sleepy English village in the Cotswolds, surrounded by fields of wheat, barley and sheep. With a family history of arts, crafts and photography, my latter school days were mostly spent behind an easel, painting with oils. In 1997 I picked up my old SLR and headed to my father's childhood home of Kenya in '97 for trip of a lifetime around the Rift Valley, which completely hooked me on photography. After completing a degree and masters, I headed to London to pursue fun, friendship and a desk job that had me yearning for more creative things and with London on my doorstep a photographic feast awaited.
In 2002, my love affair with transparency film started as I travelled the world with friends, shooting landscapes and establishing Brown Photographic in 2003. Initially I was shooting high-end landscape gardens all over London. Then in 2004 I came to Boston for the first time for a friends' wedding. Camera in hand I shot some candids, which ended up gracing my friends' Brookline home long before the official photographs. In 2005 I shot my first wedding in the UK for my good friends and returned to Boston where I started my relationship with my now wife Nicole on a road trip to Acadia, Maine. In 2007 I moved to Boston, married and have been shooting weddings from the Cape to northern New Hampshire. A fewyears later and we now live in Winchester with our son Oliver and dog Luna.
No doubt your plans are in full swing and with many details being carefully thought out, along with a guest list of your dearest friends and family, you want to capture these in their true form. My non-obtrusive, photojournalistic style presents you with a permanent record of the real events, emotions and personalities. My goal is to record your story and present it to you with luxury products that can be passed down generations.
I am a firm believer that images must not just be beautiful, but also contain meaning. By making you feel completely comfortable with your time with me, you are able to become your true self.
My images have been described as classic, timeless and 'artsy yet real'. Real is the purpose of Brown Photographic.
